had a soft landing to my moving to England by spending the first few days with my cousin and her husband in London! it was excellent in every way, not the least of which was to take my mind off stressing about getting into Nottingham and surviving etc.
amongst other things, we visited Borough Market (which i’d just seen on New Tricks a few weeks earlier!) with its amazing selection of every type of food imaginable. and later went to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year – exhibition at the Natural History Museum. that was wonderful as well, and lots of the pictures were amazing, though both me and my cousin disagreed with the judges on who should have won.
on sunday i took the (packed to bursting) train to Nottingham…

i must admit that having two huge suitcases in my hands and a full backpack on my shoulders, being pelted by cold rain and wind and being terribly confused as to which way i was supposed to be going, which bus to take and where on the map i was in relation to my hall kind of hampered my appreciation of the fact that i was in fact in Nottingham, and that University Park is absolutely fucking gorgeous. and huge (well no, i did notice that, actually).
but having been here a few days, walked or taken the bus to a few (very promising) classes and orientations, having met many interesting and lovely people, i am pretty stoked. far from settled down and calm, but excited and feeling hugely blessed to have the chance to study & live, to be here.
more as soon as i can manage it for all my studying and freaking out!
