rising up.

i’m in a strange state of my healing process; i feel mostly quite normal; i do my own shopping, i can do a quite a bit of cleaning up, i can take the tram or the subway and go to my doctors appointments by myself. but sitting down is a bit stiff, i can’t bend over, i can’t use my own shower yet, and i do have a lot of bandages and things to change every day, and my scar is not quite healed up yet (though it is very close!).

this past week has been a mix of visits from friends and family; of A coming over and us lying in bed together, browsing pictures of gorgeous women and cute bunnies and beautiful henna online, and kisses and hugs and text messages; of hours of reading a finnish translation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s The Thing Around Your Neck (really, really good and beautiful); of spordiac study sessions; of staring out of the window; and of LGBTQ rooftop sauna parties, oddly enough!

also, taking photos. i want to take pictures of anything and everything! instagram is making it easier, but i really want to do some proper shoots, spend some quality time with my Canon, too.

convalescent.

looking at these things while on the mend should definitely make the time go faster and the body heal more quickly! flowers, spring sunlight, Nelli & soft places to rest ones back…♥

and it doesn’t hurt to have a beautiful, kind nursemaid who helps you move around, picks up things off the floor and supplies you with kisses and hugs. just saying.

okay, if possible, i love instagram even more than i thought i would! also, finally understanding this whole business of following people on instagram! whee! should you like to follow me, i go by katjasimone there as well!

p.s. you might have noticed that these were taken at my parents’, which is where i’ve been for the past week and a half!

please excuse the radio silence!

i’ve been doing something harrowing and scary but ultimately super cool and amazing, and i’m pretty sure i’ll write a little something about it here on the blog a bit later. in the mean time i’ll try to pick up my camera (or my Android because INSTAGRAM, omg!) and put up some pics.

art flow.

sunday morning art flow!

food blog!

someone special made me dinner last wednesday,  and it was delicious and made in the oven and i had a sort of eureka moment of “ooh, you can MAKE STUFF in the oven, and it cooks itself and you don’t have to do anything!”. and since then i’ve been experimenting with my own versions. here are a couple of versions i’ve tried!

ingredients! stuff i eat all the time, but how you put things together makes ALL the difference. pictured: eggs, tofu, crushed almonds, zucchini, broccoli, oat cream; not pictured: veggie stock cube & salt.

chop up veggies & tofu, pile into an oven safe form, gently heat cream and stir in the stock and salt, let cool and then whisk together with eggs (1 or 2). pour over veggies, sprinkle crushed almonds on top. cover with aluminum foil and let bake for 45 mins in 225 c. (forgot to take picture of the ready version of it!)

dish 2, same as the first, except i used carrot and potato instead of tofu and broccoli (eaten with smoked salmon, so no protein was necessary).

both were thoroughly enjoyed!

android, week 10.

i love how oppositely colour co-ordinated me and my roomie are. guess which side is mine?

woke up happy from a nap!

two seconds after i took this pic i was informed we wouldn’t be staying at this cafe after all!

i take my journal writing very seriously. nothing better than settling down to it with a huge cup of Rooibos!

saw a wonderful play with my parents on Friday @ Teatteri Takomo! (“Perheenjäsen” for all you Finns; go see!)

i changed around the stuff on my walls a bit, and hung up a painting i made some years back. feels good having my own stuff up there! (pic was taken with BeFunky’s Holga function – love it!)

okay, this is from this morning, but i figure the androiding week only ends when i post the stuff on my blog, so!

p.s. i’m determined to become better at taking pics on the phone too! just ‘cos its easy doesn’t mean i should try to think about composition etc.

to have this.
